Where do we come up with our ideas? On our surfboards, of course.
If you've ever seen the top of a Pacific Ocean wave blown back into a fine mist by an offshore breeze, then you can picture the setting that spawned this idea. Where are the best grapes grown? Napa. But Napa has nothing to do with the ocean. How do you get a little ocean into Napa grapes? Easy. You load them into and un-covered truck, head due west, and then drive them down the coast all the way to San Diego. This bombards the grapes with ocean mist.
To avoid the "freeway mist," we make this journey in the middle of the night. The result? Subtle yet distinct ocean aromas and flavors mixed with all the complexity of the finest Napa grapes.
This wine is excellent with gamy meat, but we prefer to enjoy it alone, especially after a long road trip.
